three fates

Apples are a timeless symbol of knowledge and the forbidden, temptation and femininity, and freedom. The work is a direct reference to the poem ‘Birth of an infinite forest’, as an integral aspect of self for reclamation and liberation. One of the apples is cracked. I chose to keep it in that state, and understood that to change it would dampen the integrity of the concept I am trying to convey conceptually, by questioning the aesthetic value and appreciation of objects and materials that are dead, broken or discarded. I imagine they will be integrated at some point into a larger scale work and repurposed. They are also a symbol of sweetness, harvest, and the feminine aspect.
