While the exhibition 'circles to us' veers away from what is often described as ‘Aboriginal art’, the unify narrative is narrative. With storytelling playing such an important role in Aboriginal society it seems fitting that all of the pieces have a story to tell. This pictographical depiction of story perpetuates an Aboriginal way of knowing and learning. The encultured listener phenomena is also at play. Many of the pieces depict both historical and cultural events and ideas, a former knowledge of which assists the observer in understanding. Without this knowledge we may only see some of the various levels of meaning.
